Rione Aia Piccola Alberobello

Rione Aia Piccola!
Alberobello hosts a high number of curious tourists even in this time of the year approaching autumn.
Today, we answer a question Alberobello inhabitants are very often asked: “Do people live in trulli?” Our answer is definitely a yes.
When arriving in the famous town of trulli, many visitors are immediately attracted to neighbour Rione Monti, included in the Unesco World Heritage List, (WHL), which is rich in trulli used as shops, where tourists can buy souvenirs and typical local products.  Unfortunately, many of them ignore that a few meters far there is another area of Alberobello being part of the Unesco WHL: Rione Aia Piccola.
Located in the southeast of the town, such neighbour gathers around 400 trulli, exclusively used as houses.
In Rione Aia Piccola, declared National Monument in 1930, trulli follow eight tangled streets. The name Aia (farm yard) recalls a wide circular space that in the past was used for threshing corn.
Aia Piccola is a residential area and it is easy to find among the houses inhabited by locals some trulli used as B&Bs, but here you will not find any shops.
The authentic and genuine atmosphere of this quarter enchants tourists who capture in their pictures the beautiful and unique corners of the area.
We can proudly say that neighbour Aia Piccola is a real rough diamond among the many pearls of our town.
